VOLUNTEER

Be a part of an exciting international event being hosted in Edmonton this August — the inaugural Centre ICE Summit. As eight of the world’s greatest hockey nations compete for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, off-ice international hockey representatives will gather in the heart of our city for a series of meetings, coaching clinics, leadership seminars and on-ice experiences. Help us showcase to the world why Edmonton is the epicentre of hockey.

POSITIONS

Off-Ice Officials (2-Day Commitment - Aug 11-12)
Volunteer Meet/Greeters and Information (4 hr shifts between August 8-11. 12 Hours Total Commitment)
Meeting Hosts (4 hr shifts between August 8-11. 12 Hours Total Commitment)
Off-Ice Officials (2-Day Commitment - Aug 11-12)

Off-ice officials include hosts, score clock operators and various other roles during the Summer ICE Jamboree to be held at the Downtown Community Arena adjacent to Rogers Place. As part of the Centre ICE Summit, the Summer ICE Jamboree is an on-ice event introducing the half-ice format for Novice-aged hockey players. Volunteers for these roles will be required to have past experience working in or volunteering in similar roles.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar role at any capacity
  • A positive and energetic attitude and strong customer service
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to help and be part of the team
  • Must be able to commit to a total of 18 hours over the three days
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must obtain a security clearance check and vulnerable sector check

Volunteer Meet/Greeters and Information (4 hr shifts between August 8-11. 12 Hours Total Commitment)
  • Welcome groups as they arrive and see them off after their activity
  • Safely direct guests to and from transportation and manage paths of travel within the venue
  • Provide direction to seats, washrooms and other points of interest within the venue
  • Ensure guests have an overall positive, welcoming and efficient entry and exit process
  • The Information Booth volunteer must be able to answer questions that may arise on any given day. This volunteer position will be provided with all necessary materials/maps

  • A positive and energetic attitude and strong customer service
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to help and be part of the team
  • Must be able to commit to four days of volunteer time (six hours per shift)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must obtain a security clearance check and vulnerable sector check
Meeting Hosts (4 hr shifts between August 8-11. 12 Hours Total Commitment)
  • Responsible for welcoming guests, working registration areas to help distribute any necessary materials and providing appropriate accreditation
  • Act as the main point of contact for guests in order to answer questions about logistics, itinerary and miscellaneous requests

Qualifications:

  • A positive and energetic attitude and strong customer service
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to help and be part of the team
  • Must be able to commit to four days of volunteer time (six hours per shift)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must obtain a security clearance check and vulnerable sector check
