Edmonton Oil Kings set to launch first-ever Star Wars Night November 4

Star Wars Night to take over Rogers Place with speciality jersey auction in support of Sorrentino’s Compassion House

(Edmonton, AB) – The Edmonton Oil Kings will go to battle on Saturday, November 4 as they host the team’s first-ever Star Wars Night at Rogers Place. As the newest Star Wars movie from Lucas Films, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, hits theatres on December 15, 2017, the Oil Kings are showing their full support by bringing all the excitement to Rogers Place for one great night of family entertainment during their game vs. the Saskatoon Blades at 7:00 PM.

The Oil Kings Star Wars Night will have players wearing speciality Star Wars-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off in a raffle and silent auction throughout the evening. In addition to the jerseys, the Oil Kings will also be auctioning off a special edition custom Edmonton Oil Kings lightsaber.

All funds raised through the auction will be in support of Sorrentino’s Compassion House. Sorrentino’s Compassion House supports women fighting cancer by providing safe, comfortable and affordable accommodations during their cancer journey here in Edmonton. The Compassion House Foundation was established in 1998 to build a facility to support Northern Alberta women with breast cancer during treatment and early stages of recovery.

Today, Sorrentino’s Compassion House has helped to ease the distress of the cancer journey for hundreds of women in Northern Alberta.

“We are honoured to be part of Star Wars Night and this epic battle, and thank the Edmonton Oil Kings and their fans for making a difference,” said Sorrentino’s Compassion House Executive Director Melissa Kraft. “The force is strong between our two organizations, and the funds raised will help Sorrentino’s Compassion House with our important mission to offer women accommodations and support in their cancer journey.”

In honour of this inaugural event, the Oil Kings will be giving away special commemorative Star Wars-inspired Oil Kings posters to the first 7,000 fans in attendance on November 4. Members of the 501st Legion (five-oh-first) will be in attendance in full uniform on the concourse ready to interact and engage with fans. As throughout the season, kid-friendly concessions will be available including, Kids Hot Dog and Pop or Kids Popcorn and Pop for only $5.00.

“We are so pleased to be partnering with Sorrentino’s Compassion House for the first-ever Oil Kings Star Wars Night,” said Edmonton Oil Kings Director of Business Operations Kevin Radomski. “Star Wars Night is a fun way to entertain our amazing fan base while raising funds for a great cause that does important work in our community.”
