Metro Line scheduled maintenance

Buses replace Metro Line Sept 17 & 18 Crews perform planned work before winter

ETS riders are encouraged to plan ahead and leave extra travel time as crews work at track level along the Metro Line on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18 to complete warranty work and regular maintenance before the winter months. To complete the work as safely and quickly as possible, LRT service suspension of the line is required.

Shuttle buses will run between Metro Line stations and Downtown approximately every 15 minutes with extra service every 7-8 minutes for Saturday’s special events.

Regular bus service will operate at transit centres as scheduled, including Late Night Owl Service (Route 512). Capital Line trains will also run as scheduled. Metro Line LRT service is scheduled to resume Monday, September 19.

The warranty work includes track guard rail repair; traction power cable work, and MacEwan Station roof repairs. The maintenance work includes installing a glass rail at MacEwan station and window cleaning, as well as cleaning the tree canopy and installing a bird deterrent.

This weekend was chosen in order to complete the work before a series of high profile/high LRT demand events at Rogers Place, including concerts and hockey games. One concert, Dolly Parton, is scheduled at Rogers Place for Saturday, September 17. Those wishing to use transit will be accommodated by the shuttle buses or the Capital LRT line and walking a few blocks to/from the Bay/Enterprise Square station.
