Friends in Oil Country:
Like so many across Oil Country we are deeply saddened by the devastation of the wildfires in Fort McMurray and across the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB). Those affected are our friends, family, colleagues, Oilers fans and our hearts go out to them in their time of need.
The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF), on behalf of the Oilers Entertainment Group, is making an immediate donation of $100,000 to the Red Cross to support relief efforts. We are also encouraging our fans and partners to contribute to the relief efforts any way they can, in particular through donations to the Red Cross.
How to Offer Help:
Donate: Click here to donate to the Red Cross or text “REDCROSS” to 30333.
Volunteer/Donate Supplies: For those interested in volunteering or donating supplies, they can do so via the Edmonton Emergency Relief Services (EERS). Specifically, they are collecting diapers, baby wipes, NEW toiletries (such as soap, shampoo, tampons, toothpaste etc.) and NEW socks and underwear.
Take your donations to the EERS offices, located in downtown Edmonton (10255 104th Street). They will distribute them where they are needed most.
If you’d like to volunteer, please call EERS at 780-428-4422. Please leave a message, and they’ll get back to you.
We are also supporting our friends at Northlands with their important evacuation reception efforts and are on standby to do whatever else is needed for residents uprooted by the fires.
We send our thanks to all emergency workers supporting the relief effort, may they stay safe in their vital work.
If you are looking for other ways to help evacuees, please visit the Fort McMurray Evacuee Help Page on Facebook.
