WE Day Alberta Returns To Rogers Place For 2019

June 27, 2019Rogers Place

Over 16,000 students and teachers will attend the event in Edmonton on October 22.

After a successful inaugural year, Rogers Place will again host over 16,000 students and educators for WE Day Alberta for the second consecutive year on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.

WE Day is an unparalleled celebration of young people committed to making a difference and the world’s largest youth empowerment event of its kind. WE Day Alberta will provide a powerful, life-changing experience featuring renowned speakers, innovative thought leaders and celebrity performers. More than a one-day event, WE Day is connected to the free, yearlong educational program WE Schools. Providing schools and community groups with curriculum, educational resources and service-based learning campaigns, the program is designed to enhance a school’s existing social initiatives and spark new ones. WE Schools encourages students to further their curricular learning and develop life skills for success outside the classroom.

WE Day Alberta will continue to partner with Hockey Helps Kids, the philanthropic initiative of Chloe and Harrison Katz, children of Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG) owner Daryl Katz and his wife Renee. Hockey Helps Kids is a fun and innovative charity competition bringing together local schools, charities and the hockey club to raise awareness and funds for a variety of causes. The goal is to give youth the experience and skills necessary to get involved in their community and encourage them to continue to give back throughout their lives. Chloe and Harrison will return as co-chairs of WE Day Alberta, along with Leon Draisaitl.

Draisaitl will once again be making a donation of $150,000 to WE Day and Hockey Helps Kids. The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) will match Draisaitl’s donation at 50 percent for a combined total of $225,000.
