Rogers Place reaches season seat cap

On Monday, May 9, 2016, the Edmonton Oilers announced that the Club has reached its season seat capacity for the 2016-17 season at Rogers Place.

Stew MacDonald, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Oilers Entertainment Group, commented on what this announcement means for the upcoming season at Rogers Place:

First thoughts on the recent announcement of reaching the season seat capacity for the 2016-17 season at Rogers Place?

The Edmonton Oilers are so fortunate to play in front of the most loyal and passionate fans in North America. The support of the Oilers fans for their team is one of the reasons Rogers Place has become a reality.

Recently, OEG announced the increase of the season seat maximum to 15,000. How quickly were these additional season seats filled?

We were just a couple days into a weeklong process of our Season Seat Registry members selecting seats, when the majority of the seats had been spoken for. There was an incredible appetite for the additional seats.

What can this tell us about the passion of the Oilers fans and the excitement moving into Rogers Place?

There is no question that Oiler fans are excited about the Club’s outlook for the future, both on and off the ice. The Oilers Entertainment Group is excited to begin to reward fan loyalty with a new arena, which is already being compared to the best in the world.

Although the season seat capacity has been met, what can fans do who are interested in becoming season seat holders?

It’s never too soon to join the Registry. We created the Registry ten years ago to provide the fairest possible way to make seats available to Oilers fans when they came available. The process has worked very well to date, and we expect that will continue for any seats that come available in Rogers Place in future seasons.

How does the Season Seat Holder Registry work?

Oilers season seats that become available at any point are only made available to Registry members. Each season, available seats are offered to Registry members, based on their seniority rank on the Registry. As Registry members purchase season seats, they come off the Registry, and other Registry members move up in order.

Are there any other final thoughts you would like to add?

The Edmonton Oilers would like to thank all Oilers fans for their passion for the team, and look forward to sharing the Rogers Place experience with them in just a few months!
